Over Heat Safety Zone
OverHeat Safety Zone (Dump Zone): STRONGLY RECOMMENDED in all installations.
WhenthepelletboilerisoperatingatHighburn,andalldemandfromtheheatingsystemstops,the
controlwillreducethefeedrateandshutdowncompletelyasnecessary.Thismaytakeseveralminutes,
andtheremainingheatmaycausethewatertemperaturetocontinuetorise.Ifthetemperaturegetstoo
high,theOVERHEATSAFETYZONElightonthecontrol(seepage23)willilluminate,andtheDARK
BLUEcircuitinthejunctionboxisenergized(seewiringdiagram).Thiscircuitwillow120Vtooperatea
circulatorpumpinstalledtoowtotheoverheatdumpzoneestablishedintheoriginalinstallationplan.
Ifopeningazonevalveisthechosenmethodofdumpingtheexcessheat,avoltagereductionrelay
willmostlikelybeneeded.Ifthewatertemperaturecontinuestorisetotheriskofboilingpoint,thefeed
systemwillstopandtheboilerwillshut-down.Amanualresetwillthenberequiredtooperatetheboiler.
Withoutadumpzoneinplace,theexcesstemperaturecouldbuildpressuretothepointofopeningthe
reliefvalve,orwiththeatmosphericconversionitmayallowthewatertoboilandexitthroughtheover-
owoftheatmospherictank.Bothscenariosmaycreatewaterdamageand/orasliphazard.
Theboilingtemperatureofwatervaries atdifferentaltitudesandatmosphericpressures.Therefore,
atelevationsabove3000feet,andwhenusingtheatmosphericconversion,circuitboarddipswitch#6
mustbeinthe“ON”position.
